Meet the PHHC staff! We are confident that their professional backgrounds, community advocacy and combined expertise will contribute significantly to achieving the mission and goals set out for the Partnership for a Healthy Hamilton County.  

Janet Gafkjen

PHHC Director

 

Janet is the Director for PHHC, Partnership for a Healthy Hamilton County, and a resident of Hamilton County. Before landing in Hamilton County, Janet lived in South Bend Indiana, State College and Duncansville, Pennsylvania. While living in these communities so varied in size and rich in cultural and ethnic diversity, the threads of her professional experiences have been woven together through clinical laboratory science, health education in the community and hospital management that all involved strategizing for the optimization of healthcare delivery and tending to the health of communities.
 

She has served as faculty member for  Clinical Laboratory Science programs, laboratory technologist in rural Appalachian clinics, Chief Medical Technologist for the University Health Services Laboratory at Penn State University.

 

Upon her return   to the Midwest, Janet rejoined a regional nonprofit clinical laboratory as the Manager of Education and Communication for The Medical Foundation in South Bend Indiana

 

After moving to Fishers, Indiana in 2002, Janet returned to  hospital operations management serving as Clinical Process Leader of contracted Laboratory services and, subsequently, as Process Leader of Respiratory Care and Imaging Services for St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.

 

More recently Janet worked with the long term care community in her role as Outreach Coordinator of Laboratory Services at Riverview Health in Noblesville.

 
As Director of PHHC Janet’s skill sets, cultivated and honed through her  diverse health- related professional background, match her passion and concern for the public on topics of safe health practices, the quality and benefits of healthy lifestyles, outcomes measurement,  and collaboration among healthcare partners.  Further, her sense of service to others aligns with and leads the mission of PHHC in its work with many community partners across the county.
